Within days of joining AC/DC, Mark Evans played his first show as the band’s bass player. A week later he was on national TV, alongside devious schoolboy Angus Young and the wild singer Bon Scott—dressed as a pigtailed, cigarette-smoking schoolgirl and waving a mallet. In the next few years Mark toured internationally, and appeared on the groundbreaking and platinum-selling AC/DC releases High Voltage, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock, and the ‘74 Jailbreak EP.
Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC brings the gripping, laugh-out-loud tale of a band that lived fast and played harder than anyone else. The first bio by a band insider during the early years, the book details the struggles and personalities behind the rise of hard rock’s most successful group; with guest spots by rock n’ roll icons like George Harrison, Gene Simmons, Phil Lynott, and members of Metallica. In his honest and revealing memoir, mark evans contends with life’s many turns: A rough-as-nails upbringing, lucky breaks, soaring highs, and terrible personal loss and tragedy. It was a long way to the top…and he was just getting started.
“The aggressive attitude that AC/DC had towards Australian bands continued when we shifted overseas. The world’s bigger bands became our new targets. Who the fuck did these pricks think they were? We saw a few of the so-called headline acts and straight away knew that we had nothing to fear.”

Great. Really looking forward to this one. It’ll be interesting and nice to see someone elses point of view on the early story of Ac/Dc, and Mark’s story in itself.

This will shift 10 times more than Johnson’s book…

It was great read indeed! But that’s what I expected…
Douglas Staggs –
Was hooked on Mark’s compelling memoir by the first chapter. He should write more books. Wish that I could shake his hand just to thank him for the exhilarating ride.

This book is really good. A great read. Wish it came with a box set of the band. Can the lawyers allow a special edtion?

Just finished this book. Loved it. I like it when an insider can tell a true story about how things really went down and can put a microscope to the inner workings of a band. Mark does both without abandon. He is genuine in how he tells his AC/DC story without any regrets. All bands have two camps. We know this from history of music. Mark tells us how he survived the Young brothers, by finding a friend in drummer Phil Rudd, without berating anyone along the way. Even better, is how Mark gives more to the inside of singer Bon Scott, the vocalist of AC/DC, who suffered from his own demons. It’s a great and heartbreaking story. A definite read for any AC/DC fan.
